i am marie-amélie, or milie, as my god-daughter re-baptised me.

i am finnish and mauritian by birth, a londoner by making and now live and paint in paris, with my 3 cheeky little boys. 

i feed my imagination with the lives that surround me, sensitive to the little details that make every day life so extraordinary. my children and their friend’s adventures boost my imagination. the mini or milestone moments, discrete smiles or uncontrollable giggles, never ending cuddles or dramatic tumbles on tricycles, morning anecdotes or goodnight kisses : i find my inspiration in family life.

i also love to illustrate my childhood dreams, creating little tribes of animals in my paintings. hidden details, a touch of humour and an unabashed use of colour are my signature. it has to be fun & funky. 

i draw each of my pieces by hand. i add colour with watercolours, and then add final touches with fine art inks. i sometimes add elements of collage for an extra pop of colour.

i love creating family portraits or 'fa-milie' portraits, inspired by what makes your family unique.
